Privacy Policy
This policy describes what information Clariva collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and your choices regarding that information. It applies to all visitors and customers of clarivareports.com. Questions about this policy may be directed to support@clarivareports.com.
Information We Collect
Information you provide directly
- Address searches. When you enter an address to generate a report, we collect the address text you submit. This is sent to Google's Geocoding API to resolve coordinates, then used to query public data sources and generate your report.
- Email address. If you sign up for monitoring notifications ("Notify me"), we collect the email address you provide.
- Payment information. When you purchase a report, your payment is processed by Stripe. Clariva does not receive, store, or have access to your full credit card number. Stripe provides us with a transaction record including your name, email, the last four digits of your card, and the amount paid. Stripe's own privacy policy governs how they handle your payment data: stripe.com/privacy
Information collected automatically
- Usage data. We track page views, sessions, and funnel events (search, checkout, purchase) using a lightweight internal analytics system. This data is associated with anonymized session identifiers, not personal accounts.
- Meta Pixel and Conversions API. We use Meta's tracking tools to measure ad performance. The Meta Pixel places cookies in your browser, and our server sends purchase events to Meta via the Conversions API. This data may include your IP address, browser information, and the pages you visit. Meta's data policy governs how they use this information: facebook.com/privacy/policy
- Server logs. Our hosting provider may collect standard server logs including IP addresses, request timestamps, and browser user-agent strings.
How We Use Your Information
We use collected information for the following purposes:
- To deliver reports. Your address input is used to query public data sources, calculate scores, and generate your neighborhood intelligence report.
- To process payments. Transaction data from Stripe is used to verify purchases and deliver the corresponding report.
- To send transactional emails. After purchase, we send a confirmation email and a follow-up email with guidance on reading your report. These are sent via Gmail SMTP.
- To send monitoring notifications. If you opt in via the "Notify me" form, we will use your email to notify you when the monitoring subscription product becomes available. We will not send unrelated marketing emails to this list.
- To measure ad performance. Meta Pixel and Conversions API data is used to understand which ads lead to purchases, so we can allocate ad spend effectively.
- To improve the product. Aggregated, non-identifying analytics data (page views, funnel drop-off rates, report volume by city) helps us improve the site experience.
Cookies and Tracking
Clariva uses the following cookies and tracking technologies:
- Meta Pixel. Places cookies to track page views and conversions for ad attribution. You can opt out of Meta's tracking through your Facebook ad preferences or browser settings.
- Session identifiers. Our internal analytics uses session-based identifiers to track page views and funnel events. These are not linked to personal accounts.
We do not use any other third-party analytics platforms (no Google Analytics, no additional ad trackers).
Data Retention
- Report data. Generated reports and associated address data are retained in our database to fulfill purchases and support potential future features (e.g., historical score comparison). Cached neighborhood scores are refreshed periodically.
- Email addresses. Monitoring waitlist emails are retained until the subscriber requests removal or the monitoring product launches, whichever comes first.
- Payment records. Stripe transaction records are retained as required for accounting, tax compliance, and dispute resolution.
- Analytics data. Session and funnel data is retained for up to 12 months for product analysis, then deleted.
Your Choices and Rights
- Email opt-out. You may request removal from the monitoring waitlist at any time by emailing support@clarivareports.com.
- Data deletion. You may request deletion of your personal information by emailing support@clarivareports.com. We will delete your data within 30 days, except where retention is required for legal or accounting purposes (e.g., Stripe transaction records for tax compliance).
- Cookie controls. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking Meta Pixel cookies will not affect report delivery but will prevent ad attribution tracking.
- California residents. Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, and to opt out of the sale of personal information. Clariva does not sell personal information. To exercise your rights, contact support@clarivareports.com.
Security
We protect your data using HTTPS encryption for all connections, server-side storage of API credentials, HTTP security headers (Content-Security-Policy, Strict-Transport-Security, and others), and access controls on administrative endpoints. Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe, which is PCI-DSS Level 1 certified.
No system is perfectly secure. If you believe your data has been compromised, contact support@clarivareports.com immediately.
Children's Privacy
Clariva is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact support@clarivareports.com and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of clarivareports.com after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
